If you drive
Add the crossing, pet-related charges and the driving costs for both sides of the Channel. Include the return leg. A low outward ticket price alone will not tell you the trip's total.
If you book a private pet taxi
Ask for the route, passengers, pet arrangements and inclusions in writing. Explain flight connections, bulky luggage and any flexibility in the date. These details help the transporter price the actual trip.
If you use a ferry or fly
Check the complete itinerary, including airport or port transfers. Ask the selected operator about pet acceptance and supplements before buying the passenger ticket.
Veterinary costs need a separate quote
A crossing ticket does not include veterinary preparation. Tell your vet the destination, dates and whether you are returning to Great Britain. Ask for an itemised estimate so you know what is required and what is already valid.

Do not add a vehicle crossing twice when it is already included in a transport quote. Equally, do not assume that a pet supplement is the complete crossing fare.
Keep a separate return column. You may need another vet appointment, and the return fare may differ from the outward fare. For flexible dates, compare like-for-like bookings with the same passengers, animal and luggage.
